Playing on Meta Quest & standalone VR

dmnshd.gg is built for the browser, which means Meta Quest, Pico, and other standalone headsets can run our games without an APK, sideload, or store install. This guide walks through opening the site in your headset, entering immersive mode, controller mappings, and what to do when something doesn't work.

Compatible headsets

Any WebXR-capable headset can run dmnshd.gg games. In practice, the best-tested configurations are:

  • Meta Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S, Quest Pro — via the Meta Quest Browser (preinstalled). All games work out of the box.
  • Pico 4 / Pico Neo 3 — via the Pico Browser or Wolvic. Hand tracking and 6DoF controllers supported.
  • Apple Vision Pro — via Safari. WebXR is available; some immersive games render in passthrough by default.
  • PCVR (Valve Index, HTC Vive, Reverb G2, etc.) — see the desktop guide; you'll launch from Chrome/Edge with SteamVR running.

Step-by-step: launching a game on Quest

  1. 01Put your headset on and open the Meta Quest Browser from the library.
  2. 02Type dmnshd.gg into the address bar and load the site. The home page lists featured and recent games. Pick one or open the full games library. You can also select one of our featured games on the Meta New Tab Page that appears when you open a new tab in the Browser.
  3. 03Click the game thumbnail to open its page. The game loads inside the browser window first. Look for the Enter VR button inside the game. Clicking it will switch the headset into immersive mode and pull the experience out of the browser window into your environment.
  4. 04Once in VR, your room boundary (Guardian / Space Sense) still applies.
  5. 05To exit a game, press the Meta button on the right controller and choose Close, or use the in-game exit option if provided. You can also double-tap the button to bring up the browser window.

Default controller mappings

Most dmnshd.gg games use a consistent Touch controller layout. Individual games may remap these, check the game's description on how the controls work.

Left controller

  • Trigger Secondary action
  • Grip Hold / secondary grab
  • X Defined per Game
  • Y Defined per Game
  • Thumbstick Locomotion

Right controller

  • Trigger Primary action / grab
  • Grip Hold / secondary grab
  • A Select / confirm
  • B Cancel / menu
  • Thumbstick Turn / smooth turn

Hand tracking

Hand tracking works on Quest 2 and newer when controllers are set down. Games that support it use a pinch gesture (thumb to index) as the primary action and a fist as grab. Hand tracking is great for menu navigation, but for fast-paced gameplay, controllers stay more reliable. Pico hand tracking is supported on Pico 4 and newer.

Troubleshooting on Quest

"Enter VR" button does nothing

Make sure the browser has VR permission for dmnshd.gg. In the Quest Browser, tap the lock icon next to the URL and check that VR is allowed. Restart the tab if the permission was just granted.

Game runs but performance is poor

Close other Quest Browser tabs, reduce the in-headset refresh rate from 120Hz to 90Hz, and ensure no large downloads are running. Quest 2 has less GPU headroom than Quest 3, so some heavier games target 72Hz on Quest 2 by design.

Sound is missing

Many WebXR games require a click or trigger pull before audio can start (browser autoplay policy). If the game seems silent on first load, interact with it and audio should kick in.

Game doesn't load at all

Force-quit the Quest Browser, clear its cache (Settings → Apps → Quest Browser → Storage), and try again. If the issue persists, restart the headset.

Quest FAQ

Do I need to install anything from the Quest store?

No. Every dmnshd.gg game runs in the Meta Quest Browser. There is no APK, no sideload, and no store install. As long as you can reach dmnshd.gg in the browser, you can play.

Which Quest model gives the best experience?

Quest 3 and Quest 3S have the most GPU headroom and currently run every game at the highest fidelity setting. Quest 2 runs everything well but may drop to lower visual settings on the most demanding titles. Quest Pro behaves like Quest 2 with better optics and eye tracking (not available on the web though).

Can I use hand tracking instead of controllers?

Yes, on titles that opt in. Set the controllers down and the headset switches to hand tracking automatically. Pinch (thumb + index) is the standard "select" gesture.

Does the Quest Pro / Quest 3 passthrough work for AR games?

Yes. Games that opt into immersive-AR can request passthrough via WebXR. When you click Enter AR on a supported title, the headset shows your room with virtual content composited on top.

How do I take a screenshot in VR?

Use the Quest system shortcut: press the Oculus / Meta button + right trigger to capture a screenshot, or hold the Meta button and choose Record. These work over WebXR content just like over native apps.

Is multiplayer supported on Quest?

Yes. Multiplayer games run identically on Quest and on desktop: players on different platforms can join the same room. Latency depends on your home network, a fast Wi-Fi connection is recommended.

Why does my game look blurry?

WebXR runs at a default resolution that balances battery and clarity. If a game looks blurry, check that your lenses are clean and that the headset is positioned correctly.

Can my kid play these games?

Meta recommends Quest for ages 10+. Most dmnshd.gg games are family-friendly; check the tags and short description for any content notes. Free, no-account play means no purchases can happen without your involvement.
